2) Paul Scholes (Manchester United)
One of the best players in Manchester United’s history and up there with the best in English football, Paul Scholes was already guaranteed legendary status at Old Trafford after calling time on his long, trophy-laden career with United in the summer of 2011.
However, it wasn’t long before the classy midfield playmaker came out of retirement to return for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, as he was itching to get back into the game after just six months out of action. Scholes didn’t quite reach his best form in his second spell with the club, but helped guide the club to yet another Premier League title in 2012/13 before retiring again…presumably for good this time.
