1. Juan Mata
It is perhaps unfair to judge the sublimely talented Spaniard given he has been played out of position for the majority of his short career at Old Trafford (is there any thing David Moyes hasn’t ruined?) but Man United fans can have expected more from the club-record £37.1m signing. Mata is yet to score and, after recording three assists in his first three games, the 25-year-old has been reduced to timid sideways passes in recent showings. His dismal form is a symptom, rather than a cause, of United’s woes but his transfer fee could have been better allocated, particularly as Wayne Rooney is already United’s number 10.
