2. Nicklas Bendtner may prove useful this season
He may be absurdly coiffed nowadays, and understandably rusty, but to his credit Nicklas Bendtner certainly put a shift in.
Arsene Wenger presumably didn’t plan to play him for 120 minutes (because he couldn’t have planned for extra time without being some sort of clairvoyant…), but it became a necessity.
Whilst he missed the vital chance to win the match through mind-boggling inaction (bringing to mind his shocking touch when presented with the chance to eliminate FC Barcelona from the UEFA Champions League in March 2011), the Denmark international showed he may be able to do a job in Olivier Giroud’s absence.
Famous for achieving results off the scale in “self-perceived competence” tests by Arsenal’s psychologist Jacques Crevoisier, Bendtner must now attempt to match his own self worth with his performances on the pitch.
