The sale of Luiz could leave Mourinho’s options a little sparse at the back, with youngsters Tomas Kalas and Kurt Zouma not perhaps ready as yet to make the step up.
The Portuguese coach has had his eyes on Mangala for some time and the fact the France international can also play at left-back would help alleviate Cole’s departure as well.
