The Blues need support on the left side of defence.
The tears that Ashley Cole shed at Stamford Bridge on Sunday suggested that it was the left-back’s last home match in a Chelsea shirt.
Cole joined the Blues in controversial circumstances from London rivals Arsenal in 2006 and has since won every major trophy available with the club.
Yet the 33-year-old’s current contract in west London expires at the end of this season and as yet no new deal has been offered to the defensive veteran.
Manager Jose Mourinho is not a fan of the current backup to Cole at the club, Ryan Bertrand – who is on-loan at Aston Villa – and therefore new signings will be needed on the left side of the back four.
Here are five players that the Portuguese coach should be taking a serious look at.
