Alonso and Juventus’s Pogba on the list for Blues targets.
Chelsea have been solid if unremarkable under the guidance of returning manager Jose Mourinho this term and the January transfer window could be a busy time for the club.
Whilst the 50-year-old has admitted no new strikers will be bought in at Stamford Bridge, there are still some problem areas for the side – with central midfield being a big one.
Although Ramires has been in fine form, both Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel look off the pace and even Frank Lampard is showing signs of age.
Here are five possible targets for the Blues.
1. Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid
Knows Mourinho well after working with the Portuguese coach for three years at the Santiago Bernabeu and with competition fierce in the Spanish capital, may welcome a return to England.
At 32-years-old Alonso is hardly a player for the future however.
