3. Ray Lewis (LB – Baltimore Ravens)
One of the greatest LBs in NFL history, Lewis was a 13-time Pro Bowler and 10-time All-Pro selection and led the Baltimore Ravens to a pair of Super Bowl titles while winning two NFL Defensive Player of the Year awards.
On January 31, 2000, a fight broke out between Lewis and his companions and another group of people, resulting in the stabbing deaths of Jacinth Baker and Richard Lollar. Lewis and two companions, Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting, were questioned by Atlanta police, and 11 days later the three men were indicted on murder and aggravated-assault charges. The white suit Lewis was wearing the night of the killing was never found, but there was blood discovered inside of Lewis’ limousine.
Lewis managed to negotiate a plea agreement to avoid jail time in exchange for his testimony against Oakley and Sweeting. He was given one year’s probation while Oakley and Sweeting were later found not guilty.
It may never be known what exactly was Lewis’ role in the death of the two men, but he was there – and he may have had a more nefarious role in their deaths than the courts were able to determine.
