The NFL always has at least one rookie who makes an instant impact for their team, and there are many candidates who are ready to do so this season.
Last year, Packers running back Eddie Lacy and Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen were the most prominent breakout rookies.
This year, there is a plethora of talent that is ready to do the same.
Here are five rookies who will make an instant impact in the NFL.
5. Bishop Sankey, RB, Titans
The Titans lost Chris Johnson to the Jets, so they drafted Sankey in the second round to fill the hole at running back. The only running back that could possibly take the starting job away from Sankey is Shonn Greene, but he has not done anything to prove he deserves to be a full-time starter. Sankey has much more upside and played like a Heisman candidate in his last two years at Washington. Sankey is in the best situation of all rookie running backs, so it will be no surprise if he reaches 1,000 rushing yards.
4. Jadeveon Clowney, DE/OLB, Texans
Clowney was taken with the first overall pick for a reason. He will instantly make the Texans’ pass rush even more scary since it already has J.J. Watt at defensive end and Whitney Mercilus at outside linebacker. The return of inside linebacker Brian Cushing doesn’t hurt either. If Clowney can play up to his potential, he could very well reach double-digit sacks and win Defensive Rookie of the Year.
