Despite leading the Premier League, Arsenal will already be thinking about reinforcing in the January transfer window. Here are five players fanatix think would improve the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are enjoying something of a resurgence, with the Gunners topping both Barclays Premier League and their UEFA Champions League group tables, as well as going strong in the Capital One Cup.
However, any injury to one of the north London side’s key men and the campaign could look rather more tricky.
Reinforcement in January could reinvigorate the team, provide competition for places and maintain momentum.
Here are five players we think Arsenal should look at in January.
Marco Reus
Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus is capable of playing wide or just off a front player, and provides both a creative element and a serious goal threat.
Even though his Bundesliga outfit beat Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, Reus is also a great admirer of the Gunners – particularly former their Dortmund playmaker Tomas Rosicky.
“My idol was always Tomas Rosicky,” Reus told the Guardian in April. He used to be phenomenal,” said Reus about the Gunners Czech midfielder.
“I copied everything about him – right down to his sweatbands. He was so unlucky he had bad injuries at Arsenal because, otherwise, he would be one of the world’s best players.”
Reus also described Arsenal talisman Jack Wilshere as “a perfect player.”
“Boy, he’s f***ing good,” continued the 23 year-old. “He’s so quick and skilful with the ball at his feet.”
The Daily Star linked Reus to Arsenal recently, but it would be a hugely ambitious transfer for the Gunners.
However, having signed one of the biggest names in world football in Mesut Ozil, Arsene Wenger will be confident Arsenal can again attract the best to north London.
