The Frenchman has failed to start any of Sherwood’s first three matches in charge, despite an injury to the only other senior defensive midfielder in the squad, Sandro. In fact, Capoue appears to have slipped behind 19-year-old Nabil Bentaleb, who has twice appeared from the bench ahead of the France international, in the pecking order under Sherwood. The versatile 25-year-old may now seek a quick exit from White Hart Lane in the New Year.
