Five players that should carry their pre-season form into the new Premier League campaign.
Usually when a player enjoys a strong pre-season, nine times out of ten they carry that into the new campaign. Some of the names below need have something to prove this season, having disappointed last time out, where as some will just be expected to build on the good work they’ve already laid down.
Erik Lamela – Tottenham Hotpsur
The Argentine youngster was signed last summer as a replacement for the rather irreplaceable Gareth Bale, many expected him to at least hit the ground running. However, he struggled throughout the campaign, making just a handful of appearances and causing fans to believe that he was nothing but a waste of money.
However, having already netted twice in the friendly against Toronto, he has looked like a different player under Mauricio Pochettino, who has himself spoke about how positive the player’s attitude has been. If he can keep it up when it really matters then maybe he’ll be able to start repaying that massive transfer fee.
