2) Luke Shaw – Southampton (Telegraph)
Granted, with Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City all keen on the uber-talented 18-year-old, targeting Shaw is extremely ambitious. With Liverpool’s on going problems at left-back though, a large bid for the teenage prodigy could fix all this, and provide the Reds with a player capable of developing into the world’s best left-back in coming years.
With Jose Enrique perpetually injured, Aly Cissokho frankly not good enough, and doubts over Jon Flanagan’s long-term suitability, a bid for Shaw, however large, could prove a sensible investment. He’s more than good enough to start right now, too, and with Southampton chairman Nicola Cortese standing down, the Saints could be prepared to do business.
