Five huge Premier League stars set to miss the start of the season.
Following the recent news that returning Chelsea hero Didier Drogba could be set to sit out the club’s season opener against Burnley, we have sought to take a look at some of the league’s other big names that may be forced to take an involuntary leave of absence, for a short while at least.
5. Christian Benteke – Aston Villa
The Villa striker was ruled out for a few months back in April after he ruptured his achilles tendon during training. The injury came as a blow both to Villa, who struggled to pick up points without him, and Benteke himself, as it meant he would have to sit out Belgium’s World Cup campaign. He is scheduled to return in September, but the Villans may have to turn to Darren Bent in the meantime to fire them up the table.
