3) Players are getting more expensive, £33m will one day seem cheap
In the same way that the £505,000 United paid for legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel back in 1991 is now talked about as a great bargain, £33m too might not seem like very much money in the not-too-distant future. Players are already increasingly moving for fees of this nature when just ten years ago only the very best players in the world would cost that much. It would be unfair to criticise United for simply moving with the times and paying the market value for a good player who could potentially become great.
