With one of United’s great servants Patrice Evra staying for at least one more season at Old Trafford, Shaw will not be rushed into the pressure of being first choice for Louis van Gaal’s side, and can take a year or more to learn from one of the best left-backs in the Premier League’s recent history. Rather than simply being a new player adapting to a new team, Shaw will be carrying on where Evra left off, learning all he needs to become a top quality replacement for the experienced Frenchman.
