The Arsenal team is better than last year
Last year when Arsenal faced Bayern Munich, they did not have Mesut Ozil.
The Gunners’ bench consisted of Vito Mannone, Thomas Vermaelen, Abou Diaby, Francis Coquelin, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Andriy Arshavin and Gervinho.
Vermaelen and Oxlade-Chamberlain remain useful players, but none of the rest will feature.
While Gervinho has come good at AS Roma under old coach Rudi Garcia, he was a frustrating player at Emirates Stadium. Mannone is a good goalkeeper for Sunderland, but has found his level at the Stadium of Light. Arshavin could hardly have appeared less interested in the latter days of his time in north London, Francis Coquelin has been shipped out on loan, and Abou Diaby has been dreadfully unlucky with injuries and looks set to miss the whole of the season.
This season, Arsene Wenger should be able to call upon experience of Tomas Rosicky and Lukas Podolski, and youthful verve in Serge Gnabry and Carl Jenkinson.
