Ozil has a point to prove
Despite his clear brilliance, much has been made of Mesut Ozil’s dip in form over the Christmas period.
After a difficult spell for Arsenal, including a penalty miss in the first leg of the Bayern Munich tie, Ozil was booed off by Germany fans after a tough match against Chile – despite setting up the only goal of the game for Mario Goetze with a typically clever pass, and later playing in the Bayern Munich wonderkid with the most brilliant of flicks.
Having been rested by Arsene Wenger though, Ozil played brilliantly against Everton. Olivier Giroud’s goal late on to seal victory in the FA Cup clash highlighted the genius of Ozil’s play, with the German instructing his French colleague on where to run before he himself had even received the ball.
An on song Ozil can win a team any game. It’s time for him to show it on the biggest of stages in his home country.
