Bayern Munich can slip up
Bayern Munich haven’t been beaten for 49 Bundesliga matches – coincidentally the same total as Arsenal’s Invincibles managed.
While the Bavarian giants have been incredible domestically, they have not been impregnable in Europe – and complacency kicked in when earlier this season they lost at home to Manchester City having already made practically certain they had won their UEFA Champions League group.
Man City prevailed 3-2, and only dreadful arithmetic from Manuel Pellegrini stopped the visitors from pushing for the fourth goal that would see them overhaul Bayern at the top of the table.
That’s two instances in the last year that Bayern Munich have shown complacency, and Arsenal will hope that they continue to fail to learn lessons from the past.
