Why Mourinho’s men are more likely to win the competition that he is suggesting.
In what was always going to be a tough Champions League quarter-finals draw Chelsea are up against Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the last eight.
It is an outcome that manager Jose Mourinho is probably pleased with, as it means avoiding favourites Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Yet before the draw the 51-year-old suggested that like Manchester United, the Blues were an outside shot to win the tournament, so here’s five reasons we think that’s rubbish.
Defence
Other than Atletico Madrid no team has conceded fewer goals in this year’s Champions League than the west London outfit, who once again under Mourinho are strong at the back.
The four men generally tasked with keeping things tight are Branislav Ivanovic, Gary Cahill, John Terry and Cesar Azpilicueta – with stalwart Petr Cech between the sticks.
This formula has helped the team to let in just three goals all campaign and even with Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic bearing down on them they look strong.
