Liverpool have come a long way under Brendan Rodgers, and are in contention for their first top flight title since 1990. Here are five reasons the Reds will win the Premier League this season.
Suarez and Sturridge
“I have a team but no striker,” said Jose Mourinho earlier this season in a private conversation picked up by French television.
There is no such trouble for Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who boasts the top two goalscorers in the Premier League in Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
When Suarez returned from suspension after missing the first six games, he set about making up for lost time. The Uruguayan is battling with Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid for the European Golden Shoe, having scored an incredible 25 goals in 24 matches – as well as providing 10 assists.
Sturridge has now only failed to score in five of the Premier League games he has been selected in, and kept the Reds going when his strike partner was suspended thanks to a string of consecutive strikes in single goal victories against Stoke City, Aston Villa and Liverpool.
Together, they are near impossible to stop.
