4. Fergie’s legacy is stinks
Fergie claimed he was leaving his successor with a young squad on the up and up but the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. THREE of Moyes’ four first choice defenders look set to retire in the summer, while their deputies are increasingly being exposed as painfully average. United’s midfield is also packed with mediocre players (it’s hardly surprising Moyes has used 40-year-old Ryan Giggs so much), leaving the strike force as the only area of the team with true quality. So brilliant was Fergie, United had been cutting corners in the transfer market years before Moyes’ arrival. The chickens are now coming home to roost and it’s harsh to blame the current boss.
