1. There’s no obvious replacement
Sacking Moyes is all very well, but who could United replace him with? Laudrup? AVB? Malky Mackay? As Spurs found when they dismissed Villas-Boas, it can be tricky to find a pleasing solution when there’s a shortage of quality managers on the market. Most big-names are not available until the after the World Cup but if United wait until then, it may well spell another summer of indecision, upheaval and ultimately failure in the transfer market, which they cannot afford given the lack of quality in their squad.
