2. Media distraction
This should go without saying for anyone who follows the NFL, but Tebow became the center of attention for ESPN and other sports networks during his playing days, and he is one of the biggest names in football despite no longer being on a team.
ESPN SportsCenter has endured criticism for their excessive coverage of the former Florida Gator, which is commonly known as “Tebowmania.”
Nobody has held back on their love of Tebow less than ESPN First Take analyst Skip Bayless, who continuously hypes him up while arguing in favor of him.
If Tebow can make this big of an impact on the media in Denver, it’s scary to imagine how much attention he would receive in a big market like Philadelphia. Eagles fans are notorious for being unforgiving and turning against players at the flick of a switch, i.e. Donovan McNabb. Plus, Tebow’s stint with the New York Jets was anything but successful.
