2. The form of Emmanuel Adebayor
The Togolese striker divides opinion but it’s hard to argue that Adebayor isn’t currently one of the form players in the Premier League. Since his return to first team, the 29-year-old has scored more league goals (8) than anyone, including Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez. If Spurs can keep him fit and firing for the remainder of the campaign, he could finish the season in double figures and he is bound to be fired up for Arsenal’s crunch visit to White Hart Lane in March. Liverpool’s strikers have papered over the cracks at times this season and Adebayor has the quality to do the same for Spurs.
1. Tim Sherwood is learning fast
Sherwood, 45, was handed the Tottenham job despite no prior managerial experience and immediately declared that he would play two strikers and no defensive midfielder. Fast forward ten games and Spurs thrashed Newcastle playing with one central striker and an enforcer in Etienne Capoue. The unusual formation for the trip to St James’ Park also included Mousa Dembele on the right wing, which worked a treat. The tweaks show that Sherwood – inexperienced though he may be – is learning fast and Spurs could be approaching their best for the run-in.
