2. Quick learner
Spurs fans were initially sceptical of Sherwood’s gung-ho 4-4-2 system, and his mistrust of Etienne Capoue – the only true defensive midfielder available in Sandro’s continue absence through injury. But the young head-coach is learning fast.
Sherwood adapted his system for the 2-1 win at Old Trafford, hitting Manchester United with a series of lightning counter-attacks and once again changed the line-up at the weekend to deal with Swansea’s fierce pressing and possession game, with Roberto Soldado dropped for the industrious Nacer Chadli.
Such quick learning suggests there is no reason why Sherwood, who may have seemed naive at first, cannot go on to become a top manager. Spurs should put faith in him and give him a chance.
