4. Bale to return to the Premier League
The Welshman is undoubtedly enduring a torrid time in Spain. Despite bagging 13 goals in 30 appearances in La Liga this term, he has been roundly used as a scapegoat by the club’s fans. That may be a hazard of the job when you’re the team’s most expensive player, but he is quite clearly struggling with the abuse he’s receiving.
Against Juventus this week, he missed chances and squandered possession, but he didn’t hide when he was needed, which is more than could be said for several of his teammates. That wasn’t enough to earn him some more ire from the supporters, though, who were waiting for him after the final whistle. His eyes in the clip below betray how much he doesn’t want to be there, as this is not something a player who has performed admirably though continued injury should be treated.
Manchester United are reported to be pushing hard to win his signature, and he may well just decide to head back and be a little closer to home this summer.
