3. Even worse defense
The Cowboys finished with the bottom-ranked defense in the NFL last season, and this was with solid pass rushers such as Jason Hatcher and DeMarcus Ware. They will also have to play the 2014 season without inside linebacker Sean Lee, who has been their only reliable linebacker. The Cowboys also have to face NFC East offenses twice a year. They will have to play the Saints, 49ers and Bears too. Unless Demarcus Lawrence and Henry Melton can step up, the defense is in for another long season because Jones has not made any other improvements to the unit.
2. Hard schedule
Although the Cowboys get to face the AFC South, they will have to face their own divisional opponents twice. They will also have to face the NFC West, which is known for its fierce defenses. The 49ers and Saints are also on their schedule, and their offenses are sure to give their Swiss cheese defense fits.
