Ohio State destroys Wisconsin – Ohio State makes ultimate statement with 59-0 win over Wisconsin in Big Ten title game
The College Football Playoff is set to begin for the first time in college football history, and the top four teams were revealed on Sunday.
Alabama, Oregon, Florida State and Ohio State were chosen in order to round out the top four as a suspenseful battle for the fourth spot took place.
Big 12 co-champions Baylor and TCU were left out of the national title picture despite having an 11-1 record, which sparked plenty of controversy. The Big 12 not having a championship game is considered to be a factor as to why TCU and Baylor were excluded, in addition to the Big 12 not having a clear champion.
Ohio State has proven themselves worthy though. Here are five reasons why they deserve their No. 4 spot.
5. Conference championship
Since the Big Ten has 14 teams, they are eligible to play a championship game. The Buckeyes took full advantage of their opportunity and demolished Wisconsin, 59-0. This demonstrates that they are the clear Big Ten champions. TCU, on the other hand, lost to their co-champion, Baylor.
However, TCU was still arguably better than Baylor since they beat West Virginia, who Baylor lost to. The lack of a clear champion makes it difficult to choose one Big 12 team to compete for the national championship, so putting in Ohio State is a logical decision since they made it clear that they run their conference.
