4. Statement win
TCU fans will be quick to argue that their team could not have done any better in their latest win against Iowa State as they made a statement with a 55-3 win. While it can’t be argued that TCU performed fantastically, Ohio State did even better as they completely shut out their opponent while scoring 59 points. This was done against Wisconsin, who was ranked No. 13 at the time. TCU, on the other hand, beat Iowa State, who is the worst team in the Big 12 with a 2-10 record.
Baylor had a significant win over Kansas State, but their overall strength of schedule was not enough to stand out over Ohio State. Making the Buckeyes’ shutout win even more impressive is the fact that they held Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon to 76 yards on 26 carries. This surely shocked college football fans considering that Gordon still leads the nation in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.
