1. Urban Meyer
Aside from Saban, Urban Meyer is the greatest coach in college football. He has a proven resume that consists of two national championships at Florida and an undefeated season at Utah. He has carried his success over to Ohio State by leading them to an undefeated season in 2012 and coaching them to a 36-3 record in his three seasons in Columbus. Any college football fan will tell you to never bet against Meyer. Although the same thing is often said about Saban, Meyer’s presence gives the Buckeyes a better chance to beat Alabama than TCU and Baylor.
Plus, Meyer knows the pressure of coaching against highly ranked SEC teams on the big stage. This is not to say that TCU’s Gary Patterson and Baylor’s Art Briles aren’t great coaches, but they have never performed up to the level of Meyer. While we will never know if TCU and Baylor could upset Alabama, conventional wisdom says that Ohio State presents the best chance of those three teams. Revenge for Florida losing to Alabama in the 2009 SEC Championship may motivate Meyer as well.
