3. Defense will regress
The Seahawks had perhaps the best defense in NFL history, which is already a reason why its performance will decline from last season. The Legion of Boom will be returning intact, but there is less depth at cornerback since Brandon Browner and Walter Thurmond left in free agency. This will put more weight on Sherman’s shoulders. The Legion of Boom may also not be the best secondary in the NFL anymore with the New Orleans Saints’ secondary on the rise.
2. NFC West competition
The 49ers are a threat to unseat the Seahawks as NFC West champions, and they are also a frontrunner to win the Super Bowl. If quarterback Colin Kaepernick can improve from last season, the 49ers could easily return to the Super Bowl. The Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams will also be tough to beat in every game they play each other. It is certain that they will be after the Seahawks like the 49ers, so they may be able to cost the Seahawks a division title. If the Seahawks are forced to play road games in the playoffs as a wild-card team, that may spell doom for them since they thrive on playing in their home field more than any other NFL team.
