When people think of Romo, they instantly bring up his fourth-quarter failures. What they do not know is that Romo is actually an excellent quarterback in the fourth quarter. In 2013, he completed 69.6 percent of his passes in the fourth quarter for a 105.6 passer rating. The supposed choke artist also compiled similar stats when the game was within seven points in the fourth quarter. In addition, his rating was 109.9 when the Cowboys are trailing.
In addition, Romo has engineered 20 fourth-quarter comebacks and 23 game-winning drives throughout his career. 11 of those fourth-quarter comebacks and 13 of those game-winning drives have come in the last three seasons, which also marks Romo’s improvement in that time span.
Due to his stats and the comebacks to back them up, Romo deserves credit as a great NFL quarterback. While he should not be 100 percent immune from criticism for his game-ending interceptions, his positive moments should be looked at just as much.
