1) James Rodriguez (AS Monaco & Colombia)
The name on everyone’s lips at the moment: James Rodriguez has been the star of the 2014 World Cup so far with his dazzling displays for Colombia. The 22-year-old Monaco winger is currently the competition’s top scorer with five goals, alongside a further two assists – all in just four matches so far. After scoring a superb double to see his side past Uruguay and into the quarter-finals, Rodriguez is unsurprisingly being linked with a couple of the biggest names in England, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, whilst Italian side Napoli are also keen to snap him up.
With the potential to become one of the best players in the world, Rodriguez will surely not come cheap, especially as he has already moved for big money in his career as he joined Monaco from Porto last summer, but he looks well worth the investment for any side at the moment after showing what he can do on the biggest stage of all.
