Fred
Another Brazilian who is slightly better known on the continent following a four-year spell with Olympique Lyon is Fred.
Like Cardozo the striker is knocking on for a footballer (29) but also like the forward’s South American counterpart has an eye for goal, scoring 73 times in 115 matches for Fluminese since joining the club in 2009.
Pablo Osvaldo
Yet another who is seemingly linked endlessly with a move away from AS Roma – probably because of the 27-year-old’s bust-up with the coach – but Osvaldo has a physical nature that would suit the Premier League.
Although born in Argentina, Osvaldo moved to Italy in 2006 and has since had spells with several Serie A sides and has now earned eight caps for the Italian national team.
Roberto Soldado
Perhaps the most likely of the bunch after another prolific season with Valencia in La Liga, scoring 24 league goals in 2012/13.
The 28-year-old is just reaching his peak and is currently keeping Fernando Torres out of the Spain national team – another attacking Spaniard who was regarded as a hero on Merseyside.
