There were plenty of newsworthy moments in Friday’s preseason games such as quarterback Blake Bortles shining in his debut with the Jaguars.
The second day of preseason football concluded, and there were many more notable moments among the games.
Here are five takeaways from Friday’s preseason action.
5. Brandin Cooks is the real deal
Cooks has garnered a large amount of hype since shining in training camp as a rookie, and his preseason debut with the Saints was no different. The speedy receiver caught five passes for 55 yards and a touchdown, which proved to be a difference maker in the Saints’ 26-24 win over the Rams. There is no doubt he will be one of Drew Brees’ favorite weapons.
4. Matt Ryan and Roddy White will bounce back
Ryan performed flawlessly in the Falcons’ preseason opener, completing all seven of his passes. This is a sign he can recover from a forgettable 2013 season. White also looked great, catching four passes despite playing in limited action. White was hobbled by a hamstring injury last season, but he now looks fully healthy.
