4. The Chicago Bears are a mess
The Bears were on the receiving end of a blowout loss for their second game in a row as they allowed over 50 points again, and quarterback Jay Cutler looked dreadful as he failed to generate any offense until he threw a garbage-time touchdown in the third quarter. The likelihood of the Bears missing the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season is sure to anger the fans. The decision to extend Cutler for $126 million over seven years will draw more criticism too.
The defense still looks like one of the worst units in the league as it now ranks last in scoring defense with 30.8 points allowed per game. The Bears had signed defensive ends Jared Allen, Lamarr Houston and Willie Young in the offseason, but it was to no avail. Allen is way past his prime, and Houston is out for the season with a torn ACL.
