3. Tony Romo will be in the MVP discussion
The Dallas Cowboys clinched the NFC East title with a 42-7 statement win over the Indianapolis Colts. Quarterback Tony Romo was almost perfect as he threw for 218 yards with four touchdown passes on 18-of-20 passing. He was able to do all of this with running back DeMarco Murray being limited with a broken hand.
Murray has received all the MVP hype throughout the season, but Romo has performed consistently with 32 touchdown passes against eight interceptions with 70.3 percent of his passes completed for a 114.1 passer rating. This win officially makes Romo a leading MVP candidate, and he may be able to snag the award with another quality performance in Week 17. The race is the closest it’s been in years. Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt will be his biggest competition.
