Thursday kicked off the first official day of NFL preseason games. Here are five observations made from those games.
Thursday was the first day of a string of preseason games since the Hall of Fame Game was played, and there were some surprises throughout the games.
Here are five observations made throughout Thursday’s preseason games.
5. The Jets still have questions on offense
The Jets won 13-10, which means their defense was a bigger reason why they won than their offense. Running back Chris Johnson may have scored a touchdown, but he only rushed for two yards on four carries. Geno Smith and Michael Vick did not move the chains very much either, and Matt Simms completed 96 yards on 18 pass attempts. It’s still just the preseason, but the Jets will need to make adjustments to improve their offense.
4. Ladarius Green is the Chargers’ future at tight end
Green will not be the starting tight end for the Chargers since Antonio Gates is still there, but he received two targets and made both of them count by finishing with 26 receiving yards. Gates did not record a catch, so Green may see a bigger role in the Chargers offense as the season progresses.
