2. Ozil needs a rest.
When Arsene Wenger shelled out over £40m to sign Mesut Ozil on transfer deadline day, he must have hoped the German would provide the decisive contribution in tight matches like this one. Ozil’s contribution last night was indeed decisive but not in the way Wenger would have hoped. The German’s tame early penalty miss visibly sapped his confidence and he spent the remainder of the match a demoralised shadow of his usual self. After an underwhelming couple of months, Wenger should take Ozil out of the firing line and give the 25-year-old a rest. The physicality of the Premier League is not easy to get used to, especially when you are accustomed to a winter break. If Arsenal want Ozil at his sublime best for the run-in, perhaps now is the time to give him time to recharge his batteries.
