1. Both clubs need a striker in January
For all their differences in style of play, Arsenal and Chelsea share the same problem – a lack of firepower – and both need to spend in January or risk being blown away in the title race by the explosive strike-forces at Anfield and The Etihad Stadium.
While Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud has netted seven Premier League goals this season, the Frenchman looks jaded and has scored in just one the Gunners’ last ten matches. Giroud missed two half-chances on Monday that a better player would have scored and his back-up, Nicklas Bendtner, is derided and untrusted. Chelsea’s problems up front need no introduction and Jose Mourinho must spend in January to replace the hapless Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o.
