The former England defender is a free agent after being released by Manchester City and it seems that Aston Villa have wasted little time in attempting to secure his services.
Richards, who spent last season on loan at Italian side Fiorentina, is expected in the Midlands for a medical in the coming days ahead of becoming Tim Sherwood’s second English signing as Villa boss.
