2. Help Arsene Wenger
Arsene Wenger is one of the last auteurs of football management – he seems to have a finger in every pie at the club.
Whilst previously this has brought success both on the field and in terms of scouting and player acquisition, it is time to allow him to focus on his role as head coach.
Wenger brought in countless brilliant innovations to English football, but has been pulled in too many different ways, and needs help – and help he can trust.
Steve Bould brought success to the early part of the season at the back, but reports Wenger is unwilling to relinquish control over the team’s play are concerning for fans of the north London club.
Whilst many fans want Wenger out, there is little evidence that the team will suddenly improve upon the appointment of a new coach.
Wenger has his faults, but there is a case that he has overachieved in each of the last eight seasons, and that oil money backed clubs have attempted to overtake the Gunners with mixed success.
Instead of sacking the manager, improve the scouting network, bring in any other necessary coaches, and let Arsene Wenger do what he does best.
