Winner: Blake Bortles – After his second straight game with a passer rating above 90, Jaguars QB Blake Bortles earned a chance to compete for the starting job. While head coach Gus Bradley has remained adamant that Chad Henne will remain the starter, Bortles will get snaps with the first-team offense this week and will get time with the starters during the dress rehearsal game against the Lions on Friday.
Losers: The NY Jets Secondary – While it may be too early to call the experiment with Antonio Allen at CB a failure, the fact is the rest of the secondary played almost equally poorly against the Bengals first-team offense on Saturday. In just the first quarter alone, Bengals QB Andy Dalton threw for over 120 yards and a TD, easily picking apart the secondary that is missing starting CB Dee Milliner. Rex Ryan is throwing dart at a wall to see who can stick as the starting CB in case Milliner has to miss significant time in the regular season, but so far not much has worked in the first-team defense.
