Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has been accused of sexual assault, and the investigation that was closed last year is opening up once again.
Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, who won the Heisman Trophy and led the Seminoles to a BCS national championship last season, dealt with accusations of sexual assault throughout the 2013 season.
The investigation was closed later on, but it will reportedly be open again. This alleged rape occurred in 2012, and the woman accused the quarterback in December. She later revealed Winston as the suspect, and the investigation went on from November 2013 to December 2013.
Winston and his attorney have maintained that the encounter with the woman was consensual despite her accusations.
The Seminoles will face Citadel on Saturday, Sept. 14 before they have their bye week. This will allow plenty of time for this case to develop, and it may get ugly if new evidence surfaces that Winston is guilty.
Either way, this may be a difficult season for the defending champions since there is bound to be distractions that they will have to deal with once again.
