Lassana Diarra could be the latest player to join Monaco.
Ex-Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra has emerged as a €12m target for super-rich AS Monaco, reports Le 10 Sport.
Diarra is currently playing for Anzhi Makhachkala in Russia and would fit the bill for the midfielder problem Monaco face currently in the centre of the park.
The 28-year-old has been something of a journeyman since his £4m transfer to Stamford Bridge in 2005 from Le Havre, having played for four other clubs since and having nearly £35m spent on him in the process.
Diarra made his name in England, although struggled to get going whilst with the Blues making just 26 appearances in two season in west London, before Arsenal briefly took the Frenchman on.
The midfielder played just 10 times for the Gunners as well and then transferred to Portsmouth after just six months at the Emirates Stadium.
At Fratton Park Diarra was more instrumental although only spent 12 months on the south coast before Spanish giants Madrid came in for the France international.
Whilst at the Santiago Bernabeu Diarra’s defensive midfield capabilities were used to free up the more creative talents at the club and in three-and-a-half years in the Spanish capital played 120 times in all competitions.
Anzhi then came knocking for the Frenchman and he made the transfer to the sixth club in his varied career and has appeared 24 times for the side, including seven matches in the Europa League.
Now Monaco view Diarra as the ideal acquisition to come to the Stade Louis II with the vast experience the defensive midfielder has at domestic level, as well as having earned 28 caps for France.
