Petit played for both sides but thinks Wenger’s men will finish victors.
Arsenal host Chelsea in the League Cup and former star of both sides, Emmanuel Petit, has given the Frenchman’s verdict on who will come out victorious.
The 43-year-old spent three years with the Gunners between 1997 and 2000 and then later three years with the Blues from 2001 and 2004.
If anyone is qualified to comment on the two teams then Petit is and the former midfielder is making a bold call for the winning side.
“It’s hard to say for me because I played for both clubs, but it’s clear to anyone that I had my best times at Arsenal,” the ex-France international told the Telegraph.
“They gave me my chance to play in the Premier League, so my allegiances are with them, of course.
“With no disrespect to Chelsea, I had three good years there but you asked me for my choice, and I’ve given you my choice.”
Petit won the Premier League title and the FA Cup whilst in north London, before going onto help the French national team lift the World Cup and the European Championship in 1998 and 2000 respectively.
To predict Arsene Wenger will triumph over Jose Mourinho may not seem like too foolish a call when the Frenchman’s side currently lead the west London team in the English top tier.
However, in eight attempts Wenger has never beaten Mourinho and this competition is something of a speciality for the Portuguese coach, having lifted the League Cup trophy twice.
