Liverpool could be set to conclude a loan deal for former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Cameroon international is likely to be available before the end of the summer transfer window, with his current club Barcelona keen to offload him for around £10m.
However, Liverpool will push for a loan deal first before looking to sign him permanently next summer, as Brendan Rodgers remains concerned at his lack of first-team football over the last couple of years.
Despite being a key player for Arsenal during his time with the club, Song has struggled to establish himself as a regular at the Nou Camp, and has been linked with a move away from the club for much of this summer.
With Lucas Leiva possibly leaving for Napoli, Song could be a useful signing in the defensive midfield area for the Reds, who have been busy in the transfer market this year.
