La Liga giants Barcelona are continuing their summer shake-up, with former Arsenal holding midfielder Alex Song being told that he can leaving the club, according to the Daily Mirror
Song had become a favourite of manager Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium as a result of his impressive displays in a box-to-box role, but the performances of his final season in North London were never quite replicated in Catalonia.
He is currently at the World Cup with Cameroon, and his displays from the centre of midfield are likely to be vital to the Indomitable Lions’ chances of making it out of Group A ahead of Mexico and Croatia.
There is no clear destination for Song yet, with his agent only just beginning to test the waters, but his previous performances in England mean that a Premier League club is perhaps most likely to take a risk on a player who is still only 26 years of age.
The midfielder arrived at Arsenal from French side Bastia, where he had made 32 appearances, before going on to make more than 100 appearances in the red shirts of the Gunners either side of an impressive loan spell with Charlton Athletic.
