Liverpool have entered talks with former FC Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who is expected to undergo a medical at Anfield later this month, according to Goal.

Valdes has been without a club since leaving the Nou Camp at the end of last season, but has since being recovering from a cruciate ligament injury sustained back in March.
The 32-year-old’s rehabilitation is almost complete however and his representatives are confident he will able to prove his fitness to the Reds ahead of a move to the Premier League.
The Merseyside outfit want Valdes to act as competition to current No.1 Simon Mignolet, who joined the club from Sunderland in a £9m deal in 2013.
Despite starting brightly the Belgium international has become more erratic in recent times and manager Brendan Rodgers is concerned there is not adequate backup for the 26-year-old.
Valdes is keen to join up with Rodgers’ squad having seen a move to AS Monaco collapse due to the Spaniard’s injury, with the Ligue 1 side opting to bring in Maarten Stekelenburg on-loan from Fulham instead.
There is still plenty of interest in the ‘keeper from across Europe though.
