Portuguese set to part company with Madrid come June.
Jose Mourinho’s long awaited return to the Premier League could be about to happen after all after the revelation that the self-styled ‘Special One’ agreed to depart his role as head coach of Real Madrid last year, according to reports in the Metro.
The Portuguese is currently in his third season at the Santiago Bernabeu, and things haven’t gone quite so well recently. Although he managed to dethrone arch rivals FC Barcelona as La Liga champions last season, this campaign has so far not gone according to plan for Mourinho, with his side trailing well behind the Catalans in the race for the Spanish championship.
It is that kind of lacklustre domestic form that may have led Los Blancos and Mourinho to agree to a parting of the ways this summer, with the one-time Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan trainer having reportedly signed an official agreement last December with Madrid to leave the Spanish capital at the end of this campaign.
